Freemium startup directories: free listing, optional paid boost
Most launch sites today are freemium: you can list for free, but you wait, and a payment moves you to the front or onto the homepage. This list is every freemium directory we have tested, with our honest take on whether the free tier is usable and whether the paid boost is worth it.
Product Hunt
ππΌproducthunt.com
No introduction needed
Startup Fame
ππΌstartupfa.me
This is great. The submission process is π₯ which will do all (and great) work based on your website url. Would have been nice with a few more screenshots for your startup.
Twelve Tools
ππΌtwelve.tools
Directory built on badge exchange: embed their badge and the listing is free with a dofollow link, otherwise you pay. Fast approval. Added on authority and reputation; we have not run a submission through it yet.
Indie Hackers
ππΌindiehackers.com
You need to submit to this. Only allow two products for free π€¦πΌββοΈ but it's a nice design and great community.
SaaSHub
ππΌsaashub.com
A great source you need to be on. Decent submit process.
Turbo0
ππΌturbo0.com
Same badge-for-link model as Twelve Tools, with real page views. Quick approval. Added on authority; not yet submitted by us.
Peerlist
ππΌpeerlist.io
A great extensiveΒ site with great LinkedIn import capabilities. The submit process is nice. Just in general a really well-designed site.
BetaList
ππΌbetalist.com
Only useful for new projects. Existing projects you want to include on this list is likely not accepted. But as a new product release it's great.
Uneed
ππΌuneed.best
A great PH alternative. Does a great job! The submission process is π. Queue time is currently three months which is a long time but acceptable.
LaunchIgniter
ππΌlaunchigniter.com
Weekly launch board: products sit on the homepage for seven days and the top three get a badge. Free tier works, premium for placement. Can prefill from your site or Product Hunt. Added on authority; not yet submitted by us.
PeerPush
ππΌpeerpush.com
Cross-promotion launch network. Free listing joins a queue; $39 publishes instantly with a permanent link, more for promotion. No badge required. Added on authority; not yet submitted by us.
Smol Launch
ππΌsmollaunch.com
Weekly launches every Monday. Free submissions are capped at 50 a week and need their badge; premium skips both. Permanent listing with a link. Added on authority; not yet submitted by us.
StartupBase
ππΌstartupbase.io
Good site with good submission process. The free queue is a couple of months.
Tiny Startups
ππΌtinystartups.com
Decent website with fine submission process. It's doing more upsale than GoDaddy but it is possible to do a free listing too, which is good. Queue time is less than a month. Unfortunately doesn't have a profile so if you submit multiple products or want to change details, it's a bit difficult to keep track.
Huzzler
ππΌhuzzler.so
A great site! Very easy submit process and nice ability to choose free or paid submission. Good job!
MicroLaunch
ππΌmicrolaunch.net
I like this one. It has a queue for 2-3 months for free submissions. The process is pretty straight-forward though some information needs to be repeated when you're submitting multiple products.
TinyLaunch
ππΌtinylaun.ch
Like it. Simple and great submission process though they have a 0.2 MB limit on the logo. Pretty odd. One-page though no screenshots can be uploaded. That would have been nice. The upsale process is nicely handled. Free submissions are less than a week in the future.
Idea Kiln
ππΌideakiln.com
Easy signup and good mix of fields for your listing. You're able to select slots for launch and only with an acceptable bit of nudging towards premium.
SoloPush
ππΌsolopush.com
Decent design a easy submit process. Queue is a couple of months.
Startup Listing
ππΌstartuplist.ing
A new contender. A great design with a fine submission process. Would love ability to drag/drop icon/photos, though. Not pushing for buying premium listings, which is good. Queue time is undefined but probably fast because the site is very new.
findly.tools
πfindly.tools
Clean tool directory. Free with their badge on your site, or $9 to skip the badge. Very new, so the high DR is badge-driven. Added on authority; not yet submitted by us.
FoundrList
πfoundrlist.com
Startup directory with a free listing and a $49-a-week sponsored slot. Newer site, honest ranking pages. Added on authority; not yet submitted by us.
SaaSFame
πsaasfame.com
Generic SaaS directory with a dofollow link and a featured tier. Account required. Added on authority; not yet submitted by us.
Scroll Launch
πscrolllaunch.com
Weekly leaderboard with an SEO-ready product page. Free tier gives a badge-gated backlink; premium makes it dofollow without the badge. Added on authority; not yet submitted by us.
EarlyHunt
πearlyhunt.com
Weekly launch competition aimed at AI products, live every Monday. Free with their badge (nofollow); $19 one-time for a dofollow link and promotion. Added on authority; not yet submitted by us.
Open-Launch
πopen-launch.com
Fine submission process with a queue time around three month. Pay to get in front of queue.
Dev Hunt
πdevhunt.org
Only submitting developer tools. There is a ridiculous dropdown to choose the publishing period, where the free listing is set for one year in the future. But a fun twist in generating a video based off your description and screenshots. That works quite well.
Indie.Deals
πindie.deals
Requires a backlink to submit a product for free
Startups Lab
πstartupslab.site
Like it. Design is simple and submission process is ok. Doesn't give an estimated queue period.
Find Your SaaS
πfindyoursaas.com
Easy onboarding and submission process. Looks decent.
ProductBurst
πproductburst.com
Looks pretty vibe-coded but the submission process is fine. Also queue is not (probably because it's not popular) that long.
SideProjectors
π©sideprojectors.com
Social signin doesn't work!
Startup Stash
π©startupstash.com
Only for dev tools and you need to go through a typeform to submit your product.
Startup Buffer
π©startupbuffer.com
Looks like a baaad vibe-coded design. Some messed up cat is chasing your mouse-cursor π€¦πΌ. Submission process is a one-pager which is fine. The queue is a couple of months.
How to use this list
The trick with freemium sites is to submit early and let the free queue run while you launch elsewhere. If you are launching several products, submit all of them the same afternoon β a launch package makes that a copy-and-paste job rather than an evening of form filling.
Each directory page has our one-paragraph review, the pricing model, and a direct link to the submission form. Open the ones you want, and if you have a launch package, the Chrome extension fills the form for you: how autofill works.
New to this? Start with how to submit your startup to directories and the launch package checklist.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- Is it worth paying to skip the queue?
- Rarely for a listing alone. Pay when the site has real traffic for your niche (Product Hunt, Uneed, Peerlist) or when timing matters for a launch. For everything else, the free queue delivers the same permanent listing a few weeks later.
- What does a paid boost usually include?
- Faster review, a featured slot on the homepage or newsletter, a do-follow link, or a badge. Prices range from about $10 to a few hundred dollars per listing.
